Sir Kenneth Mather Memorial Prize 2015 – Robert Power
Robert Power (Wellcome Trust Africa Centre for Population Health)
Dr Robert Power is a postdoctoral fellow at the Wellcome Trust Africa Centre for Population Health, South Africa. He gained his PhD in statistical genetics at the Institute of Psychiatry in the UK, during which he was also affiliated with deCODE Genetics, the Queensland Institute of Medical Research, and the Queensland Brain Institute. His PhD focused on combining large epidemiological and genetic datasets to disentangle the heterogeneity within psychiatric disorders and identify the underlying casual pathways. His current research focuses on applying these same methods to pathogen genomic and epidemiological data to better understand the transmission of HIV, TB and other infectious diseases.
