Genetics Society members are now eligible for a discount of 50% for their first two years of individual Royal Society of Biology (RSB) membership. As the leading professional body for biologists in the United Kingdom, the RSB represents 16,000 individual members, as well as more than 100 Member Organisations working in and around the life sciences.

The benefits of RSB membership

The RSB offers a range of membership grades to match the professional expertise of members – wherever they are in their career, and whatever their interest in the life sciences.

Members receive a free subscription to the award-winning magazine The Biologist, published six times a year, and have access  to a range of electronic bulletins to help keep them up to date with developments in science policy, biology education and the RSB’s work at international, national and regional levels, together with invitations to local and national events.

Post nominal letters can demonstrate members’ status as professional biologists, well qualified and subject to a rigorous code of conduct, while professional awards, including Chartered Biologist (CBiol), supporting by a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme and significant savings on RSB-run training courses aim to enhance members’ recognition, status and employability.

Opportunities to help shape the future of biology – the RSB is frequently consulted on biological issues by government departments, funding bodies, industry and other national and international organisations. Drawing on the breadth of its membership, the RSB reflects the views of the biological profession as a whole.
