This course focuses on DNA at the core of life – how DNA works and how it informs the structures and functions of living things. You will explore key scientific advances and recent changes in the understanding of genetics. In particular, you will investigate the medical and biotechnological breakthroughs that have already taken place in the field and possibilities for future developments.
This course is available for 2017-2018, and applications are open until September 4th 2017, or until full. The course is taught at first year undergraduate level (however there are no formal entry requirements) and will run on Saturdays from 7th October 2017 until 2nd June 2018.
Master of Science (MSc)/Diploma: Quantitative Genetics and Genome Analysis, University of Edinburgh
Quantitative Genetics and Genome Analysis at the University of Edinburgh is a suite of full-time taught study programmes starting in September 2017 and leading to either a Masters (MSc) degree (12 months) or a Diploma (9 months). Within the QGGA suite, students elect to take specialist programmes in Animal Breeding and Genetics, Evolutionary Genetics or Human Complex Trait Genetics.The QGGA suite of courses provides postgraduates with the knowledge and skills required to apply quantitative genetics theory to practical problems in both the biomedical and animals science industries and to undertake research in evolutionary genetics, animal breeding, human genetics and genome analysis.
