General Information
The 2026 British Meiosis Meeting aims to bring together the scientific community working on meiosis. The meeting will cover all aspects of meiosis studies including DNA repair and recombination, chromosome biology, chromatin, epigenetics, genome evolution, cell division, aneuploidy and infertility, in organisms across the eukaryotic domain.
This new edition will be held at the Royal Society, London. The two-day conference features a plenary talk, selected talks, a poster session, a panel discussion on fellowship applications and a conference dinner. Our plenary speaker is Dr Valérie Borde (CNRS, France). All other talks will be selected based on the abstract with priority given to PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and early-career independent researchers. Researchers whose abstract is not selected for an oral presentation have an option to present in the poster session. Prizes will be given to the best talk and poster presentation.
The Royal Society is the world’s oldest independent scientific academy and, since its establishment, has accommodated 85 Nobel Laureates. Our vision is to create an inspiring environment to embolden the community, especially early career researchers (ECRs), to develop ambitious research programmes and achieve research excellence. Ultimately, we hope this will foster fruitful interactions and career building.

Bursary
Opportunities of bursary for the conference are available:
Attendance bursaries funded by the Gatsby Foundation are available to cover registration fees for up to 1 PhD student and 1 ECR post-doctoral researcher (up to 5 year’s post-PhD graduation). The organisers will select the best applications based on merit and demonstration of the need for the bursary to attend the conference. The application consists of a 2-page CV and 1-page describing your work, achievement and how this bursary would benefit your career development. Materials of the application should be uploaded at the registration of conference.
The Genetics Society Carer’s Award also provides the support to attendees with caring responsibilities. To apply for Carer’s Award, you need to be a member of the Genetic Society. Upon application, you will provide your career stage, description of caregiver role and a brief justification of the need for this award. Priority will be given to early-career scientists and according to their need. Applications are to be submitted on the Genetics Society portal.
